Akinwunmi Ambode was born on 14 June 1963 and is currently serving as the Governor of Lagos State. He was a civil servant for 27 years before becoming a financial consultant and then returning to public office as Governor of Lagos State in 2015.
He holds a master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and is a qualified chartered accountant. He has been awarded with the US Fulbright Scholarship for the Hubert Humphries Fellowship Programme in Boston.
Ambode’s civil service career was served mostly in the treasury, where he ensured the effective management of funds over many positions throughout his career.
After retiring from the civil service, he continued to serve the government by providing consulting and public finance management services through his private firm.
